Accessible Language: What's Wrong with 'Modifications'?

“The language we use can be education in and of itself. We teach through our words.” —Jivana Heyman

In this short video, Jivana discusses the topic of language and how we as yoga teachers can use language to change the way people perceive yoga and the idea of adapting the practice.

For example, Jivana recently shared the statement "Accessible is the new advanced" on his social media, which challenges the notion that 'advanced' relates to physical strength or flexibility.

In this video, Jivana goes on to explore the word 'modifications' and how this shows up in yoga spaces.
